Okay, I could say that there is a wonderfully romantic tale about how I found and fell in love with this house. But like my life lately, the story is pretty funny and weird.
About 3 years ago I purchased my first home in Philadelphia. It was a nice row home and I spent quite a bit of time and effort getting things perfectly how I wanted. Then one day, one of my friends decide that she and her fiance needed to buy a house in Delaware County. So me being the knowledgeable new home owner introduced her to the wonderful world of realtor.com. As we looked through the listings I keep on pointing out the beautiful old Victorians, sighing at the thought of one day owning one of my own. I kept on directing her to this property hoping that she would buy it (so I could hang out in her yard). Given her lack of interest in having to fix up a 5 bedroom house for 2 people, she passed on my suggestion.
One day i just “happened” to be in the area and drove to the property and immediately fell in love. There previous owner planted ferns instead of a front and back lawn area, which meant low maintenance and added to the “jungle feel”.
So on a whim, I called the agent and asked to see the inside. After that I was hooked. It had built in book shelves, hardwoods floors and enough room for my clothes and cats. Next thing you know, I’m putting my own house up for sale so I an move into this one. Of course my friends gave me the “are you nuts?” look every time I mentioned what I was doing. Three months later I moved in and started working……..and I don’t think it will ever end.
